Why all the pessimism in Global Warming ?

Why are ALL the negative effects presented and not the good ones ?

PROS for Canada:

1. Canada looks forward to the melting of the Arctic Seas. Such that there is a North West Passage for shipping. This will lead to jobs and more (most) shipping to North America via Arctic passage (royalties to Canada ) instead of going through Panama. This would save millions of dollars for shipping companies (not to mention the carbon foot print would be minimized)

2. Warmer weather means the permafrost areas would move further north... hence freeing up fertile lands in the Prairies. Means more food production for Canada. We could supply more food to those areas in need (perhaps for those people who live in desert areas)

3. Warming would mean an increase in water supply to our acquifers. The water cycle would (water vapour being the biggest contributer to the green house effect, would mean that the hydrocyle would be amplified..... not that Canada needs more water... but the excess fresh water could be shipped to other countries of need) more jobs... more revenue.

again.... can anyone describe why Canada should be concerned (or be signing the Kyoto Accord)

As for polar bears..... they will survive... they have managed to survive for 1000's of years.... and during many ups and downs in the global temps... so lets leave out the ecosystem portion out of the answers. (save for another question)

Anyone here ever built there very own swimming pool ? In ground ?

I am playing with the idea to build our very own pool. I like the idea of using rebar and spraying the concrete (pebble based,washed look) reinforced of course.

We live in a COLD place..... winters are harsh... so the pool must be built such that it can sustain the heaving of frost.

I don't mind the idea of using a liner.... but would like to hear from anyone who's built a pool from scratch or from a kit . Costs would be appreciated too.

Metal roof (not shingles).

Why is the industry split on ventilation of a metal roof ?

All the roofs in town (20+) have sheet steel and NO SOFFITS nor Ridge vents.

Should i build my roof the same way ?

I am going to spray foam the gables.... such that there will be no leakage and no trapped air in the attic space. Do i create a air gap and vent it ? or just do what everyone else is doing ?

Do i need to vent my cathedral ceilings if i sprayfoam the roof trusses 100% ?

or do i need to create an air cavity above the spray foam , such that the air above it needs a soffit and a ridge vent ?

i have one roofer whom says: i have never had to vent a sprayfoam cathedral before

but the CMHC (Canadians) says that we should vent it .

Other: i must admit... if i were using shingles... this would be necesary to increase the longevity of the roof.

Also: if i were to use bafflels / pink insulation bats soffits, air space and vents are a MUST.

why do POT smokers have such a hard time justifying their existence ? And make the comparison to 'drinking' alcohol as being lesser of the two evils. How does comparing smoking a joint and drinking in excess make the act any better ? (both are harmful) Only one is decriminalized, the other, many wish it were.

Yes i was pulled over last year: Received a Ticket for failing to provide 'proof' of insurance. The Officer gave me about 8 minutes to look for it. Before i could find the insurance card, the officer returned back to the car several times. Sometimes without his "FULL" uniform on. Asking: "have you found the insurance card yet ?" Twice. Second time he didn't even really come over he just popped his head out of the car and asked. (without his HAT). Now because he did not properly address me (with uniform) and from his car: Is there a technicality under the Ontario Provincial Highway Traffic Act ?

Its been over a year since the offence, (by a month !).Ontario Provincial Highway Traffic Act Offence.

Question: Will the court throw the offence out because the court failed to provide a court date within are reasonable time ? How would you present this to the prosecutor (before the trial begins? terminology?)

What is this Solenoid ? Trans -axel Postion Solenoid ? What are the signs and symptoms of this part going off ? I have NOT taken my starter off... but my Van is NOT starting... Just a click, clicking noise all the wires and contacts are clean and free of debris and corrosion. The starter may or may not be original , but i am a bit reluctant to think its the solenoid on the starter?

Before i attempt to pull out my starter.... Does this diagnosis sound correct ?

My 2000 Windstar will not start. I have FULL power in the battery. And the Starter would CLICK once or twice then NOTHING. A hit the starter with a hammer and now it appears to be engaging a little... i get a repeating CLICK CLICK...

I am suspecting that i am NOT getting enough VOLTAGE to the starter, wires look clean and corrosion free, however judging by the sounds of the CLICK CLICKING noise I am thinking there may NOT be enough power ? SHort ? or just the GUTS of the starter may be all messed up ? Corroded inside ? loose wire? water? The starter does NOT look Old... could be original, not sure.

I hope to yank the starter and clean the contacts, perhaps take it apart. Does anyone think that this is NOT a good idea ? Thanks for your Help.

They fail to keep the flame going.... and resorted to the new girl's method of starting fire with two rocks ? .... later in the movie the Neanderthals run into a tribe of Homosapiens. the men are captured and forced into having sex with the 'larger' girls in the homosapien tribe. Where in Southern Ontario can you find weaner (reputable and healthy) pigs for less than 70 dollars a piece? It seems as though, finding weaner pigs these days around the City of Guelph have become scarce.

Hence the price has risen to above 80 dollars each.

Does anyone know where you can find weaner pigs for around 50 dollars?

Our little duck eggs are beginning to hatch. How do you sex a duck ? or Duckling ? both ?

These are Pekin Ducks..... the adults.... the females tend to be dirty... because the Males mount them daily :P I would like to know if there is a MORE scientific method. As well... if there are any indications of sex at an earlier stage?

Is there any way to describe HOW to take an oil furnace injector apart to clean? to rebuild ?

to prevent it from turning on and off rapidly? (the furnace fails to ignite)

My Oil furnace turns on and off rapidly. Like the pilot cannot ignite the injected oil ???

Is the injector dirty? air supply to the unit inadequate? Oil supply is insufficient? Too much Oil injecting, thus blowing the flame out? Does anyone have any tips on servicing an Oil furnace?

My PT cruiser needs a RS (passenger side) stabilizer arm.

Does anyone know what i mean? have you replaced this part before?

THe bolt is missing..... and my mechanic says its not too serious.... even though the stabilizer arm is just hanging there..... Obviously it needs replacing or fixing. Is it just as simple to replace the bolt ? or should i replace the entire ARM ?
