Pekin Ducks: How do you SEX a duck ?
Our little duck eggs are beginning to hatch. How do you sex a duck ? or Duckling ? both ?
These are Pekin Ducks..... the adults.... the females tend to be dirty... because the Males mount them daily :P I would like to know if there is a MORE scientific method. As well... if there are any indications of sex at an earlier stage?

Do not stick your finger in their cloaca! You can easily damage that very sensitive area. Vent sexng should only be done by someone very experienced and even then there are ricks.
Male ducks will get curly tail feathers and will make a hissing noise. The females will quack. Its much easier to tell the differences between the two sounds if you have one of each.

There is only way to tell if if your duck is male or female. You have to stick your finger in the butt. If something hard and round comes out, it's a female. If not.. you have a male.
