What do you think about the trend in the US?

Fundamentalist Christians have been mimicking mainstream institutions in recent history. For example the Creation Museum or Intelligent Design.

Why do you think these particular people are trying so hard to legitimize themselves by mimicking mainstream institutions (a real museum, actual scientific method)?

Personally, I'm beginning to wonder if their intention is to try to overthrow the mainstream institutions and replace secular society. Am I being paranoid?

Update:

@Santa Christ: from my understanding, this is actually a new phenomenon that begin around the 70s, and coincidentally happened alongside with the resurgence of the GOP.

It has been their intention since day one to overthrow secular society and give back political power to religion.

  • Actually, it's been quite easy for them to mimic legitimate fields of science by corrupting the ethics of scientists who are more than willing to suppress their last modicum of scientific credibility to prostitute their religious-centric agenda.

Any time a legitimate field of science starts to destroy it's own credibility, you can bet that a religious mole has thoroughly infected the ethical limitations that define legitimate scientific inquiry.

a priori dominates the agenda of fantasy-centric religious propaganda, this is only surprising to people who consider the dominionist agenda of religion to be more benign than it's actual corrosive effect on societal institutions.

Religion has the luxury of being granted carte blanche for direct and indirect manipulation of societal perceptions.

Legitimate sources are framed as obfuscatory as a distraction to mask the dubious legitimacy of religious-centric pseudo-science institutions.
