Whats with the NASCAR rebel flag policy?

It has been a rule for a very long time that the rebel flag is not permitted to be used on any car or apparel. why? thats stupid. just keep strayin away from ur roots NASCAR. And a couple of the big shots in nascar said if they cud they wud ban the fans from flying it in the infield and parking lot? why? if u say its racist, u are very wrong. it is not a symbol of hate. this is not against NASCAR, i love nascar ive been watchin it since the early 90s. I just wanna know why their scared to use it

Well NASCAR is probably just doing that to not start anything. Anybody that thinks the confederate flag is racist are ignorant and doesn't know the history. They put what they want in textbooks sometimes, want to know the real history then read some of the books my cousin (Civil War buff and reenactor) has. I've even seen black people wearing a confederate flag had or shirt before, only an older man. Parents are teaching their kids ignorance so the kids grow up to be the same way.

NASCAR know's it's roots but they probably did that just so nothing starts. They're not really scared to use it I don't think, it's just a fact of trying to avoid a bunch of sh*t being started. Times have changed, I love the flag and I have a few of them, not just decals or shirts. I just figure why stir the pot or start sh*t. To be perfectly honest, I know you have an opinion and I don't see anything wrong in it, but you asking this is no different than someone posting a question talking about how racist the flag or NASCAR might be, just stirring the pot after it's already settled some. I'm not afraid to voice my opinion as the regulars on here might know, but I've learned to not start sh*t and then there won't be any sh*t.

I can see both sides of this issue. The fact is, millions and millions see the rebel flag as a negative symbol - one of oppression and racism. I think many African Americans see this flag just as homosexuals, gypsies, mentally and physically handicapped, and Jews see the Nazi flag.

  • It's a moronic rule and just another slap in the face of the US constitution. All states have a right to fly their flag. The reason it's always kicked around is because it was carried in the Civil War which to some meant that all Confederate soldiers and their states approved of slavery and that the Civil War was a war to end slavery. But as a historian I know that it was about states rights not abolishing slavery. If it was, then why did it take until 1863 for Lincoln to "free" the slaves? Why not in 1860 when he won the election?? He freed them because he needed them to fight as the Union, up until Gettysburgh, was losing. All anyone has to do is read a letter Lincoln sent to Horace Greeley that says "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it,"""

And just to show that I didn't take it out of context...here is the link...http://showcase.netins.net/web/creative/lincoln/sp...

Make no mistake...Lincoln was against slavery...but his main objective was to win the war and reunite the Union. Even he hated being called "The Great Emancipator"...which he stated that he was not.

OK...enough history lesson for the day. In answer to your question it's those who are ignorant of history who despise the southern flag.

P.S. Robert E. Lee The greatest Confederate General freed all of the Lee family slaves in 1853...while Ulyses S,. Grant's wife, Julia...kept two until 1863 when she HAD to free them.

It's reminiscent of the US Civil War.

Because to blacks it represents slavery. The only problem is, slavery on blacks was a curse from Noah to the descendants of his son Ham who had an evil heart and joked of his father's nakedness while laying drunk passed out. Noah cursed his (Ham's) descendants who were known as the Egyptians, Canaanites, Ethiopians, Cushites, Semite, Amorites, etc.... whose name in meaning meant black. God even placed a mark on their skin (their color) and instructed his people to not intermarry with those group of people.

Instead of Blacks wanting to take responsibility for their actions and heart, and the curse that was brought on them from years ago, they try to blame it on racism from the present day slavery. So it all boils down to Brian France's family are descendants of the north, and to them the flag represents racism. It's stupid because even blacks don't know the reason why they were slaves in a past, but they still want whites to feel the guilt of their sins. Over history and time, Jesus removed all curses by becoming a curse and dying on the cross Gal 3:10-13, and it is through accepting Jesus as our Saviour that those curses are removed from our lives. Slavery in the United States actually brought a lot of blacks who never knew Christ (or might never would have) to a country where they were taught about Christ. By them learning and accepting Christ, the curse that Noah placed on the descendants of Ham (blacks) were removed.

So it basically boils down to ignorance from an already group of ignorant people (Brian France) who is trying to make sure blacks aren't offended by something that neither one of them understands.

Simply put? It's because of *stupidity* and ignorance.
