a=amplitue,b=period,c=phase shift, d=vertical shift
so, if we graph our sin function over the period, 0-2pi, we recognize that the amplitude is just 1, so, 90 degrees we will have an amplitude of 1, and same with 270 degrees.(-1)
now. amplitude=3, so this means instead of the amplitude being 1, it is now 3, so we recognize that it becomes vertically stretched by a factor of 3.
the 2x represents the period of the function.in order to find the period, we need to do a simple calculation: 2pi/b = 2pi/2=pi. so instead of 2 pi, we are now looking at 0-pi, and because this number is greater than 0, we know that the graph becomes horizontally compressed by a factor of 2.
pi/4 represents the phase shift, this just tells us what direction and how far it is shifted horizontally.
since its positive, we know it is shifted to the left, pi/4 units.
