Family Tree Maker, which one to get?

I'm looking to get FTM software, a 2011 edition, going to start from scratch, meaning no older versions to input info from. I'm trying to figure out if there is any real difference between the Essentials, Deluxe, and Platinum version beside the length of free ancestry.com you get. ?.

Also, does anyone know if the free ancestry.com begins once you install the software or can you choose when to start your free time?

I found this guide online at: http://reviews.ebay.com/Difference-between-Family-...

The Family Tree Maker software line is a popular product that comes in four versions. It can be a little difficult to figure out what's best for your needs, so we've created a guide to help you decide

The Family Tree Maker software is the same between ALL of the versions. The only differences between the Essentials, Standard, Deluxe and Collector's Edition are the length of the included Ancestry subscription and the included exclusive bonus items.

    Ancestry Subscription:

    •Essentials: 3 months included

    •Standard: 6 months included

    •Deluxe: 9 months included

    •Collector's: 12 months (1 year) included

Keep in mind that the Ancestry subscription begins from the time of registration, and is usually for new subscriptions only. You may be able to extend an existing subscription, but that usually requires that you contact the Ancestry support team and ask.

I was already a subscriber to Ancestry.com when I bought my Family Tree Maker software and I called their customer service people and they allowed me to use the free time that came with my software at the end of my subscription but you should call and ask since they are now a publicly owned company the rules may have changed.

You can install and use Family Tree Maker 2011 and choose to activate the Ancestry.com subscription later. Once you're ready, choose "Activate Ancestry.com Subscription" under the "Help" menu.
