If you like wine go to Sonoma (about an hour north) its Wine Country for people who just like wine, and aren't interested in the specifics. The mission is really cool there, as is the Girl & the Fig restaurant. The food is really good, and the wineries are great. San Jose is cool too, the Winchester Mystery House & Santana Row make for a fun day trip.

You could take a day trip to either Monterey or Santa Cruz. For that matter, if the weather permits, head north to Healdsburg and canoe the Russian River.
