Best way to cook white cabbage?

Having bought a nice cabbage, now looking for nice ways to cook as a vegetable, having lamb chops tonight.

Update:

Steaming, is that like chopping it up, sticking it a pan of water and cover and boil on the gas hob?

I cut cabbage into 8 wedges and steam it like that. I like it with Balsamic vinegar and salt - which might work with the lamb since it has a good, rich flavour.

    Enjoy.

I use bacon grease, but olive oil works well too. Use about 1 -2 Tsps, but not more because you don't want it oily. I put oil in a frying pan, add some diced onions and grated carrots. Cook until the onions are clear, then add the shredded cabbage and toss in the pan until it wilts. Add some salt & pepper to bring out the flavors. This is good just like this, but here is a slight change that I have used too.

I add about 1 tsp of sugar and about 4 Tsps of apple cider vinegar. That gives it a sweet and tart tates all at the same time. My recommendation is after the first prep, take a little on the side and try the second way but cut the amount of sugar and vinegar for a smaller batch to taste. Have fun.

I lived in Africa and we, or rather the house girl there cooked it by, slicing onion tomato and the white cabbage.Start by cooking the onion in a little oil not browning though, then add the cabbage when it's almost done add the sliced toms, as cabbage is nice but bit boring, this makes a really tasty dish for a change. I know it sounds odd but well worth a try, some time you can add half a chicken stock cube to liven it up, or even leave out the toms all together. It's your choice. Give it a try.

Slice up an onion and shred up the cabbage and fry it up in butter and salt and pepper over LOW heat till the cabbage is tender and the onion is translucent...
