55 gal. drum = 208.2 dm3, what does the dm to the 3rd mean?
I need to convert to gals. per inch. I know the drum is 1.62 gals per inch, based on 55(gals) divided by 34(inches)
115 gals = 435.32 dm3 The container is 28 inches deep. I know this container is not exactly 115 gals.
150 gals =567.81 dm3 The container is also 28 inches deep and not exactly 150 gals.
275 gals = 1.041 m3 This container is 36 inches deep and not exactly 275 gals. What does the m to the 3rd mean? and what are the exact gals. for these containers?

dm means decimeters...i.e. a unit equal to 10 cemtimeters.
dm^3 means cubic decimeters...i.e. a unit that we name the LITER.
m means meters..the SI base unit of distance.
m^3 means cubic meters...the SI derived unit of volume...you can call it kiloliters if you want to.
Gallons and inches and whatever are unnecessary and confusing. Learn to think in the SI (metric) system...so much easier...every unit is strategically defined for convenience.
