What are the pros and cons of having an absence of a class?

I am a senior in high school, and my schedule for this semester says that I have an Out, which is basically an empty class period, and a Courtesy-a courtesy is some type of on-campus volunteering, but it does not count as a grade. I am not sure of keeping these two absences because it would take my GPA down and make colleges think that I am not doing my part academically, but because of the lack of classes my school has in the two periods they put those "classes" in on my schedule makes me feel like I have no choice but to accept two empty spots. What are the pros and cons, or what could I do to to make up for those absences?

i would not only NOT recommend doing this but ill give you a suggestion....

not only will you get bored.....to death, but you could fill those two classes with college courses 1-2 generals out of class.

you can ALWAYS change classes...just go to your counselor and talk to them about it. but i would highly recommend taking at least ONE of those classes and changing it to a college course class.
