I cant keep him out of the mud rolling around...I have never showed a horse in my life so I dont now anything about special shampoos and all that.. its too cold anyways right now..Any tried and true cleaning fixes for the cold winter months when you cant lock them into a stall?
Im not a blanket person.. but I wonder if any of you have heard about that foam stuff?

Try miracle groom or cowboy magic waterless shampoo. It's in a spray bottle so there's no need to use a hose or anything like that so they won't freeze. I own a cremello (all white) and a buckskin tobiano (light tan and white) and they're hard to keep clean too when they're out in the field 24/7. Also try using a turnout sheet or a regular light sheet. It keeps the dirt and mud from getting on them and a rubber curry comb and stuff brush might also help.

Pigs do not sweat (form of humorous pondering the word "i'm sweating like a pig") They roll in airborne dirt and dust to maintain themselves cool and to steer away from sunburn yet it additionally protects them against insect bites.

there really isn't that much you can do, sadly!
if your horse is clipped than it gives the dirt less place to stick. also if you rug(blanket) your horse their body will stay clean. with my guys i bathe them as soon as we get a few warm-ish hours in a day! quicksilver horse shampoo is also a really nice product.. good luck!

if the mud is dry then....just groom him very well. brush. curry. hard brush. then soft.
