Banff, Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway, Jasper, Emerald Lake, Revelstoke National Park are things i've been reading about.. If anyone has any great tips, or places to stop, chill have a beer, take in the scenery etc..let me know - Also tell me if i'm on the right track as far as Routes go.. Thanks a million.. Chris

There are only two practical routes. Either the Trans Canada Highway or through the Crowsnest Pass. Both are incredibly scenic and are great to drive. If you go through Jasper you will have to go about 500Km to 600Km more. Perhaps you should go and get an AMA or BCAA travel book.

You've picked a good one, though in truth there aren't really that many routes to choose from, and they all have great scenery especially if you're a first timer. You can hardly go wrong anywhere in BC for scenery. I kind of prefer the southern route, Crow's Nest Highway 3. A bit slower than Hwy 1, smaller towns and fewer of them, a little more rugged. The Columbia Valley south from Golden is a nice drive, and the Kootenays are very pretty with interesting history. Friend of mine stayed at Toad Rock Campground near Nelson last year and had a blast there. I like the Merritt area very much, but my favourite BC interior town is tiny Midway, right down near the US border on Hwy 3. If you're camping, it has a little municipal campground along the river and a very small bar almost across the street, at least it did last time I was through. Greenwood is a nice place to stop for coffee or ice cream.

As you head east out of Vancouver you're taking the Cocqahalla to Kamloops, in Kamloops take the go out for Prince George, street 5North, this can take you to the Yellowhead street close to Tete Jaune Junction the position you head east with the aid of Jasper to Edmonton, Saskatoon, assembly the Trans canada an hour west of Winnipeg, you could take the Regina, Calgary , Banff route on the long in the past.purely east of Thunder Bay in Ontario the Trans canada divides into the southern route alongside the great lakes with the aid of Sault Ste.marie, or you could take the northern route with the aid of Hearst, Kapuskasing, back both routes meet in North Bay and it really is right now south from there to Toronto.

I grew up in the South Okanagan, and go back on holidays from time to time.
You could do a circle: taking the Trans Canada and Coquahalla going to Vancouver, and then the Crowsnest (highway 3) to the Kootenays, then up to Radium Hot Springs, and back. This means not taking the same road twice, and you get to see lots of different things.

I have to choose Hwy 1
mainly because of the Fraser canyon...
If you don't mind going out of your way for a day- in Banff National Park take the Icefield Parkway (93-to jasper.) then loop back... It has spectaular views

Take the route through rogers pass, real pretty country there.
