Why does my psp not play a game?

I was opening gifts on Christmas and I got this game called DragonBall Z Shin Boudekai (american or english version) and the psp says it could not read the disc. Anyone got ideas or thoughts??(like making the game work)

    Also check the UMD. To clean them get a soft cloth, with nothing stuck in it, and clean the disc in the UMD case.

    Is the cd scratched? try blowing where the psp lens laser inside the place where you put your cd inside.
