How do I know when my dog is finished peeing?
I'm babysitting this dog.
Her owners say she's trained to use the bathroom. She'll cry and bark when she has to go so I'll just have to let her out, then.
The other day, I let her out, she used the restroom, ran around, and came straight to the door.
Then she peed on the kitchen floor? I was very upset.
How do you know when a dog is finished? What's the perfect time limit to know?

Aren't you walking this dog? I know they run around, but a good walk with a leash is required care for a trained dog. As far as to how long...as long as it takes! a good rule of thumb is 15-20 minutes. Of course if it's very cold out 5-10 minutes is good..She is in new surroundings...and she'll make a mistake, from time to time. I take my dog--an adult out for his walk 3 times daily. As to how long those walks are depends on the weather conditions...but I always walk him around myself those times of day. The rest of the time he runs around for awhile on his own...under a watchful eye.

With male dogs it's difficult as they never really 'empty', always saving some for marking.
With bitches normally they go, and that's it. When she came back and went, was it a full flow, or just small drips going on - and have you seen her do this when outside too? If so, it could be she has a touch of cystitis, or other UTI going on. Being upset at her owner's being away could also have upset her. Can you contact her owners? If so I'd phone them and let them know what's going on, and suggest you get a sample of her pee into her vet (presumably they've left you with a phone number/name/address of the one they use) just in case there is a medical reason for her to be doing this. Otherwise just clean it up.
I can't give you a 'time' to be finished I'm afraid!!

I would say she probably only needs a max. of like 10 min. But there's not much you can do if you let her out and she barks to come in, if she's barking she's not likely going to stop because she wants in. What happened may be rare for her, it shouldn't happen every time. Was she scared or excited? Those are things that could cause a very young or very old dog to do. Also older dogs tend to have less control of their bladder, so if she's old it could have been not-on-purpose.
Good luck! :)

Every dog is different. I'd say she seems a bit stubborn, or maybe she's uncomfortable outside. I'd go outside with her for a few minutes, make sure she does her business, and then let her back in.
Give her about 5 minutes I guess just to be sure she doesn't ruin the floor. And pay attention.

I bet the dog is missing her owners and is rather confused. Instead of just waiting for her
to finish try taking her for a good long walk.
Every dog needs the excersize it helps them use up excess energy etc.

I think she is playing games with you and maybe misses her owners. Or is just being stubborn.
