With dial-up, the fastest connection possible is 56k (kilobytes per second). Most providers offer a max of 53 or 54kbs.

Unless you have 256mb of RAM or less, increasing your RAM won't help with Internet speeds.

Your computer will only support one type of ram (DDR2, DDR3, etc.)

It depends a lot on your processor. Although, on a dial up connection the amount of ram and processor speed would be about the same when dealing with download, because the processor might be fast, but the max internet speed would be too slow for it to use its potential.

    Suggestion:Get faster internet.

RAM (random access memory) assists your computer in running different programs. These programs can range from your operating system itself (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Unix, etc.) to the programs that run within those operating systems. Your RAM will be used by your software in conjunction with your processor in order to complete the calculations that are necessary to the basic operations of the computer itself. While RAM can affect downloading from the internet, the program you are using, your operating system, and your method/speed of connection to the internet can all impact your download times. In order to obtain a specific answer, it would be helpful for you to post information about your computer. Although I would not recommend giving such information to anyone, I can say that your question is a little vague to receive a complete and through answer.

Why does it matter you have dial up you could have 128 megabytes and the ram would still be fast enough to keep up with a 56kbs dailup. and good ram can only match your motherboard /cpu configuration. so whats your cpu specs, and ill give you the best ram for it

HEY geek in its Kbs or Bits not bytes that's a difference of 8x of information. sorry i just hate when people mess that up. (online gamer at heart)

(kilobytes per second). kilobits per second hense the lowercase b always means bits not bytes that why ram says 512 MB not Mb and hard drives are in bits too
