How soon after having a baby can I get pregnant?

I am breastfeeding and just started my period and my little girl is almost 3 months. I heard the longer you go without a period the longer it takes to get preg...is there any truth to this?

Absolutely not. There's no rhyme or reason - some women don't get pregnant while breastfeeding, and others do. Unless you're willing to take that chance, then now would be the time to use protection... I got pregnant with my 2nd daughter when my 1st daughter was only 6 months old - we were alternating condoms and the sponge...the sponge won...lol

You can get pregnant as soon as you start having sex again! It does not matter if you are breastfeeding. I know of quite a few people who have found this out and now have a set of Irish Twins.

You can get pregnant at any time after having a baby. My brother-in-law's sister has two girls that are exactly 9 months apart.

Anytime if your body can produce an egg. I have some family member who got pregnant a week after having her first child.
