I'm a girl, but I feel so under-developed about boys?

I'm in the seventh grade and I'm pretty much live in my own fairy tale. I love when boys do simple sweet things for a girl, and I'm just a total sucker about love. But, I've found that I know NOBODY like that.

So, I haven't dated anyone yet. I was about to date this one guy, but I completely chickened out. My mom told me she had her first boyfriend in seventh grade, and my best friend just got a steady boyfriend.

So, when it comes to boys, I find myself completely scared at the thought of a relationship probably because I want like a REALLY good relationship...

Is seventh grade a normal time to have a boyfriend..?

I felt the same way when I was your age! I had my first boyfriend during the summer after 8th grade when I was 14. It was fun but every guy after just got better and better. If you're looking for a really good relationship (that lasts for more than a month) I would suggest you either wait until you're older or find a really mature guy. Unfortunately in the 7th grade mature guys are hard to find. If you find someone soon don't expect it to go very far because people change a lot from that age through high school. But if you find a guy just have fun and try not to take the relationship too seriously. Consider it a learning experience ha ha. Don't stress too much over relationships because no matter what there will be someone out there for you, and the best man you will ever have will likely come when you're older =]

Well, yes, technically it is "normal" since most girls have "boyfriends" at this age. But honestly, what are they going to do? Ride their bikes to each others house that are one or two miles away then hang out? Hug each other when the last bell rings then don't have any other contact with them until the next day? Most girls back in 7th grade had boyfriends but they break it off after a week or so because they can't do anything or go anywhere without asking their parents for a ride, which would be completely embarrassing. Here's my advice: Don't get a boyfriends until you're old enough to drive yourself home. So I'd say sophomore year.

Seventh grade is really young to be dating. Wait until YOU feel that you're ready and hold out for the right guy. Believe it or not, guys do exist like you described do exist - just not in Middle School. Remember the old saying, "girls mature faster than boys"? Just be patient and take this time to find out who you are so that once you do decide to date you are already comfortable with yourself.

Middle school relationships usually don't mean anything. I only know 2 middle school couples that lasted longer than 3 months. It may seem like dating in middle school is important, but it really isn't. Most couples end up unhappy in the end. Wait until high school. Guys mature a lot in the next few years so it will be easier to have a relationship and you'll be much happier!

It's normal not to be dating at this age, but dreaming about boys all the time. At this age you can't drive anywhere, so dating usually means hanging out at school or on weekends if you can get a ride.

You have a ton of time before you need to worry about long term, good relationships. But you won't understand this until you are old like me (30) because at your age everything seems so immediate. Relationships are not like what you read about in books or see on TV.

I don't know how old a seventh grader is, but I'm fourteen and I've never had a boyfriend! I want one just like how you imagine your dream guy - someone who has classic good-manners, very polite and does sweet, simple things for a girl. Unfortunately, these guys are rare. :(

But don't worry about it and don't feel pressured into getting a boyfriend. I'm sure the perfect guy for you is out there, somewhere!

To answer your question... No! You're just a kid still. This would be the time to make good friends with everyone. Don't bother yourself with boyfriends.

You've found that you don't know anyone like that because that type of person, at your age, doesn't exsist. It's sad, I know. It took me a good while to accept it.

Agreed with the first answer... 15/16 ish to have a proper boyfriend...

Maybe even 14 if your mature enough.

    Source(s): I only said 14/15 because I was 14 (15 now) and i'm in a proper relationship :)

Aha, I'm the same and you know what? It's about the age where you have your first actually. So no worries but you shouldn't be do frightened because they won't bite but I get that you may get a little nervous but if you want to you can wait for them to come to you...

I think once you start highschool it seems like the perfect time to have a real relationship. You are just fine. Don't worry about it AT ALL, you're just being safe. If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you?
