What happens to Atheists when they die?

They sleep like the rest of us. But when Jesus comes they will be thrown in the Lake of Fire.

The same thing will happen to everyone when they die.

Unfortunately, whatever actually happens, there is only one way to really find out.

You are Christian? And you are worried about your Mum?

Instead of believing all the fools who run around condemning everyone to hell, you should take comfort from the words of Jesus Christ - your teacher.

For one thing, He was very serious when He warned people not to play God and judge others.

He also said "In my Fathers house are many mansions."

Then there is the Beatitudes. It takes a pretty bad person not to be included there.

If you are Muslim, then there isn't much hope for them, unless they convert before death (there is an allowance for them to convert even in the last second of life)

Other religions have various ways of thinking, too (If your Mother is black, she cannot enter Mormon Heaven, no matter what she believes)

I am Atheist, or perhaps Agnostic.

I would never make fun of your beliefs, or condemn you for it.

I think that people who do, are hiding a little knot of guilt (or fear) somewhere deep inside themselves.

Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all".

John 5:28,29: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who practiced good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement".

Death is a state of nonexistence. They have no awareness, no thoughts nor feelings. Hellfire doesn't exist, because the dead have no conscious existence and are awaiting resurrection. So it's not clear and possible that a fiery place of torment is where the wicked go to suffer after death.

No one knows. No one, no matter how they pound their fists or claim to have "the truth". Maybe there is an afterlife. The atheists don't know for sure that there is not. Maybe there is nothing. The religious folks don't know for sure that there is an afterlife. It is pure arrogance to claim to "know" one way or the other. Some of us have ideas, though, and we can choose to live our lives based on those ideas. For myself, I admit that I do not know, rather than arrogantly pretend to know that which I cannot possibly know. I have ideas, not beliefs and hopes, not blind faith, and I felt that way long before Dogma ever came out, lol.

So to quote Peter Pan: Death shall be an awfully big adventure. (Maybe, lol)

They fall asleep in death just as the rest of us will do, but the difference will be that because of taking a firm stance in oppostion to God & Christ they will not receive a ressurection. They will dease to exist.

like everyone else who ever died good bad believer nonbeliever, they go back to the dust. don't worry your mom is not going to burn in some non existent hell. see eccl: 3: 19, 20, 21. 22 and 23 it is quite simple and Straight forward .

They go to an eternal happyland with rivers of beer and armies of naked women nymphomaniacs.

Prove Im wrong ... Makes more sense than what the religious cult zombies believe and has every bit as much supporting evidence as their cultists claims of eternal happyland.

We cease to exist. It's as simple as that. It might sound depressing but it is the only reasonable answer.
