Does anyone know where I can buy a typewriter ribbon?
Mine is a mechanical Olivetti typewriter; its ribbon has recently given up the ghost, and I am trying to find a store or a reliable website where I can purchase a replacement.

Unless you have a vintage office supply store near you then your only source will be online. The best online store that has a large selection of ribbons for many varieties of typewriters is a website called scantracker.
You can check their website or give them a call. I'm sure there are others out there but I've used Scantracker before and they should be able to take care of whatever you need.

These are stores in my area, and they are fairly popular elsewhere. If you can't find the item in these new-er stores, check your local phone book for a MOM and POP type stationery store. These are the little places that haven't been squeezed out of business yet. You could also try a teacher's store or maybe even a local hardware store. If they don't have the item, they are pretty good at telling you where you could look to find it !!
