Is there a difference in how people treat male and female infants?

We usually hear about how gender roles originates from us being taught in what way to behave according to our sex. For example, a mother tells her daughter how to sit properly and how to behave around people as a lady should. Just like a boy is taught how to say hi to other males (usually shaking hands).

But do you believe there is a huge difference in how adults interact with babies based on the infant's sex?

Watch this video and tell me what your opinion is.

If so, do you think there is validity in how the adults behave with the baby?

Update:

sdfas, I don't believe in a 'neutral' gender society. Gender roles serve a purpose in structuring our lives. But I'm just against ridig gender roles which may hinder some people but I'm not against having roles for men and women. We are biologically different therefore we behave differently too.

Whats the problem in gender differences and roles?

Do you want a society where everyone is a "neutral" gender?

    Women are different.

    Men are different.

It's retarded expecting the same from them.

theres validity to a curtain extent with the whole gender role thing, but not when it comes to most professions, i say this cause statistics show women generally do better in school and more females go to college so theres more women out there to be engineers, doctors or whatever other profession there is then men generally, but when it comes to the family role a man should definitely be the protector and if anyone f*cks with his family he should man up and defend them and when it come to the provider thing well its the 2000s and we all gotta work so men and women can and should be equal in that sense, gender roles are only valid in curtain situations but academically there is no place for it.

It says we are the same animal as we have been for 35,000 years. We hunt, war against one another, lead each other to better our circumstances, and reproduce. These modern times present us with different ways we do many of those things based on our inventions, but we are still the same animal. What else are we going to do?

Yes. They frequently sexually mutilate boys. And then claim that they have a "right" to do so. And then claim that it is for the child's own good. And then come up with other rationalizations.

Curiously, they never seem willing to let the child choose for himself.

Of course there is. Females are much more stringently punished that males are--after all, boys are SUPPOSED to be boisterous. Not girls. Never little girls.

Well, we generally don't circumcise girls.
