How can you keep a 9-month old Yorkie from deciding when it's time to wake up?

So every morning at varying times between 4:30 AM and 7 AM, while we're trying to sleep, our baby decides it's time to get up and play. So she jumps on my chest and starts giving kisses and pawing at my face. This morning I woke up at 4 AM with her tongue in my mouth. So how can I explain to her that Mommy and I want to sleep a little longer?

I know, exercise, right? I've tried playing with her in the evenings, letting her run and jump all over me (and her poor big sister), but that hasn't helped. Any other ideas?

(I hope it's obvious that this post is semi-tongue-in-cheek, but my wife asked me to post this question, so here it is. If you have any suggestions, though, they'd be appreciated!)

    1) You don't let your dog jump all over you, or she will think you're not the boss.

    2) She is still a puppy, so she will get excited a lot.

    3) She should be in a crate during the night. This will solve your problem. Yes, she will hate it at first and will whine and cry. This is because you've spoiled her and let her sleep most likely with you. Only alphas get the bed.

A few minutes in the evening helps but you have to keep her awake longer during the day. Give her more toys to play with, exercise her more, keep her awake later at night so she doesn't go to sleep before you do. Buy her a crate that's the right size for her, and keep her there until you wake up unless she has a problem like pooing. I used to think crates were bad, but they love the personal space they get, they feel safe, and it's cozy for them. It's like the way you feel in your bedroom.

    there are several way

    crate

putting up a baby gate either to keep her in a separate room or at least out of your bedroom

training the dog it is not allowed on the bed and this means at any time for any reason

Well tell them to go lay down. If your positive she doesn't have to pee/poop tell her no sternly go lay down or place her in her bed or wherever she sleeps. If your not consistent it won't work. I have 2 dogs and foster new ones all the time. And they all know if Im not ready to get up they are going back to bed!

Ignore her she sounds like the baby of your house and the centre of attention! If you ignore her or say no she'll get the hint! Ps. There needs to be more of you people in the world who love your animals!
