Actually Latin won't really do a whole lot of good for you. It'd be silly to take Latin solely because you think it will help you in your future career, when it kind of won't. If however you really want to know the language (even though it is absolutely useless in these times) go ahead, it's a nice language.

Latin is a language that is not used much in the modern world. Yes, it might help with understanding definitions or genesis of words, but you won't get much use out of speaking the language. Everyone else going through the nursing programs make it alright with terminologies. My advice is to go for Spanish. You will definitely use it as a nurse, and will probably get a better salary if you're bilingual. You'll use Spanish more as a nurse.

Yes sign up for your first year of Latin, but you never know if you'll change your mind. I took 3 years of Spanish, and although it was one of my highest-graded classes, I dropped it this year to take more honors classes like physics, organic chemistry, and pre-calculus. You will change your mind throughout high school and you never know if you might end up taking something completely different. And as far as I know, Spanish is much easier to learn than Latin. Nevertheless, take what YOU want to take, not what everyone else tells/wants you to take. Heck, I would have probably taken Latin if my school offered it. Good luck! :)

If you want Latin so badly, do some research online for Latin in nursing. Latin will be harder than Spanish. Spanish is helpful in nursing, as many parts of the U.S. need bilingual nurses. You choose!
