What do you think about a mut dog show?

I am thinking about having an any breed dog show to bring attention To my grooming shop. What kind of categories should I have. I don't want to do any full breed ones this is for all dogs even the rescues Idk what it is but I love it dogs.

Update:

I don't want to alienate pure breads just wanted ideas for both. I felt if I didn't specify the mix breeds I wouldn't get answers for both groups. But Ido want to include both pure and mixed.

So basically what you want to do is a companion dog show with fun classes? I have judged one of those, I judged the whole conformation part, where I just went over the dogs and had them go to the end of the line, we had purebreds and mixes in that so I just judged by sight, cuteness and what not.

Then we had novelty classes, which I judged and competed in. I also did these in England when I was over there.

    Things like

    Best Coat

    Cutest face

    Prettiest girl

    Handsomest boy

    Best tail wag

    Best trick

    Most obedient

    Prettiest eyes

    etc

I would suggest you strictly do the novelty classes, unless you know someone who does conformation and can simulate something like that.

So you are doing this fun match for "all dogs" but not purebred ones? You know that there are purebred rescues too, right?

This isn't a "dog show" but could be a good fun event.

I would invite your local "dog photographer" (there are such things), some dog item vendors, get donations from petsmart and petco, invite the local rescues to bring the dogs in need of adoption. Do a "make over" on one of the rescue dogs looking for a home.

Find a Canine Good Citizen evaluator and have them evaluate dogs.

Get your local Canine "search and rescue" group in to do a demo

Invite the Red Cross to give tips on pet first aid (they do this)

Have a local vet come it for a "rabies shot clinic" and "microchip clinic" to benefit local rescues.

Lots you can do -- but don't alienate those with purebreds...

    I like the idea.

    Cutest/ugliest

Best in obedience (see who is working their dogs & who isn't)

    Smallest/biggest

    Best costume

    Best behaved/ worst behaved

    Race, according to size

    Best groomed

I think this is going to be bigger than you ever thought. Young kids are always asking if there is any where they can show their dogs. Every body is proud of their dogs.

You need judges for the events.

You need some kind of security to make sure no dog aggressive dogs are NOT allowed to stay or compete.

First aid in case of bites. You need to have all entrants sign waivers saying you are not liable. A registration form.

What are you giving as prizes? Get sponsors, Pet shops can donate leashes, collars. Order the trophies

You need rules. No females in heat. No dog aggressive dogs. No dogs off leash.

    You need a plan.

You may need a permit for the event.

You also need HELP. LOTS of HELP.

Where are you going to have the event?

How many dogs are you going to allow?

This will over whelm you! Get help.

Love the idea! Some things off the top of my head:

    -Most unique

-Most confusing (As to what breed they are)

    -Most homeless looking

    -Ugliest

-Least likely to know who their father was.

Good idea. Not sure how you would make categories except for Small, Medium, and Large.

Do fun stuff, like costumes, or owner/dog look-a-like, or most unique.

    best face

    best groom job
