Ehy, guys... Is it correct in English?

Hi guys!! I'm an Italian guy and for my English class I was asked to describe my favorite picture...

This is my description:

My favorite picture was taken two years ago during my holiday in the USA. I decided to go there because I have a couple of friends in Boston and they invited me to spend some time with them. We were visting the city and I stared at all the skyscrapers of the city. They were wonderful. I particularly liked one which was really tall and beautiful.

That summer was the best summer I've ever had, especially because of all the wonderful things I visited, such as Trinity Church (a big, gothic church), the old and the new house of the Government (really beautiful and ancient), Plymouth Plantation and so on. The picture is on my bedroom wall because each time I feel a great nostalgia of America or of my friends, I look at it and I remember how great the time was that spent there. I hope to go back there one day.

Could you correct it if there's any mistake? Thank you in advance...

10 points to the best and clean answer!

Update:

@Olivia: Yup, u're right... I should say more about the pic itself... Btw I was more keen on understanding if the description was grammatically correct... Thank you!!!!

Update 2:

@Llandel : You're right too!! I'll correct it! Thank you!!

It is a nice piece, but you did not describe exactly what the picture was of. It is like me being asked to describe my favourite food, and mentioning only the kitchen and the means of how it is created without actually telling you what my favourite food is.

Here is another example so you see what I mean

    "Describe your favourite picture."

"My favourite picture was taken a few weeks before my dad died. He had been in hospital for about a month and even though we all had high hopes of him pulling through deep down we all knew his time was just about up.

I didn't do a whole lot while my father was in hospital. There was a nice bistro I went to before heading up to the hospital. It was an old, home-style Italiano type building. Both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to sit and eat in. Whenever I pass that bistro now, or even when I just happen to think about it, my father comes to mind."

See how I didn't mention what the picture was OF?

This is what you should have done:

    "Describe your favourite picture."

"My favourite picture was taken a few weeks before my dad died. I spent the entire afternoon with him, and just before sundown it started to rain. I looked out the window and suddenly webs of lightning spooled across the sky. Both of our eyes were glued to the window as more crackles of thunder were to be heard. I took my phone out of my side pocket and took a quick photo. It was unfortunate, though, that the lightning had stopped before I could capture it. All that could be seen in the photo were dispersing grey clouds and a thin haze cast over the buildings across the street as the storm reached its calm.

The reason this photo is my favourite, is because it reminded me of my father. Energetic and everpresent in life --- and lingering in death."

P.S. What is the picture of? You should probably describe that a bit.
