If Joe Calzaghe came out of retirement what Super Middleweight would you prefer him to fight Ward Froach Bute?

BQ:] IF and that's a big IF Super Joe Calzaghe came out of retirement which

Super Middleweight boxer and or Champion in the division would you prefer

him to fight? Andre Ward, Carl Froach or Lucian Bute? who, when and why?

Joe Calzaghe vs. Lucian Bute for the IBF Super Middleweight Championship

Joe Calzaghe vs. Andre "S.O.G." Ward for the WBA Super Middleweight Title

Joe Calzaghe vs. Carl 'The Cobra' Froach for the WBC Super Middleweight Title

BQ2:] What are your thoughts on Jeff "The Left Hook" Lacy making a comeback

to boxing? Remember Jeff Lacy he was a former IBF Super Middleweight champ

back in the day Jeff Lacy is (1-4) in his last four fights he lost his comeback fight

against journeyman Dhafir Smith (23-19-7) by a unanimous decision. Is he done?

Or does anyone have faith in him that Jeff Lacy can make a comeback in boxing?

Bonus Questions:] I got some other questions posted up if you wanna try to

answer these question I'm going to choose the best answer in a few days.

Update:

@What's up Norman Bates? Good answer however, I disagree remember it

was Joe Calzaghe who dominated the Super Middleweight division his last 6

professional fights he defeated all of the belt holders Mikkel Kessler was the

WBC/WBA Super Middleweight Champion and Jeff Lacy was the IBF Champ

he dominated both Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins who are much better

boxers compared to Carl Froach and April 24, 2010 Froach did lose to Mikkel

Kessler in Denmark. "Super" Joe Calzaghe by a 12 rd unanimous decision or

perhaps even a late knockout. The Pride of Whales and The Italian Dragon a

tune up fight would be nice how about Joe Calzaghe vs. Librado Andrade.

Update 2:

@What's up Joe Martinez? I agree Jeff "The Left Hook" Lacy hasn't been

the same after the Joe Calzaghe loss in my opinion he was matched up

against a better fighter in Calzaghe way too soon. After the loss he left to

Golden Boy Promotions he injured his shoulder in the Vitaliy Tsypko fight

which was a rematch after that he won his next two fights and now Lacy's

(1-3) in his last four fights he lost to Jermain Taylor and Roy Jones Jr. On

December 11, 2011 he lost his comeback fight to Dhafir Smith (23-19-7).

If Calzaghe came back, I would definitely want him to fight Froch rather than Ward or Bute. Before Calzaghe retired, Froch was talking a whole lot of smack to him and calling for them to fight. Calzaghe would need to shut Froch's mouth, because if he chose to fight anyone else, then Froch wouldn't shut up about it and saying it just proves Calzaghe wants no part of him. If it were to happen, I think that Calzaghe would come out of retirement as soon as possible, and take a tune-up with a very beatable opponent. That way he will lose the ring rust, and hopefully the Super 6 will be over or close to it. If they fought eachother in either England or Wales the fight would be HUGE, and Froch is the clear and obvious choice in my mind out of the three. As to who would win, before Calzaghe retired I would have took Joe for sure, but now I think more highly of Froch and at this point I think it is a toss up. If I had to choose, I think I would barely lean towards Froch.

BQ:} Lacy is done, he needs to retire. When you lose to someone like Dhafir Smith you aren't going to beat any elite fighters anymore, probably not even contenders either. Nate Campbell just lost to a similar journeyman opponent, and he took it as a sign that it's time to retire. I hope Lacy takes that same sign, because he will only end up hurting his long term health.

  • I'd like to see him fight Carl Froch, Calzaghe's hand speed would overwhelm The Cobra.

They do not like each other, and Froch is a bit obsessed with Super Joe. It would be a grudge match type deal.

Calzaghe would sweep Bute over a wide 12 round decision. Bute has the power, but Calzaghe has the chin and is simply too fast for Bute.

Andre Ward would have to find a way to deal with Calzaghe's flurries, and to do that, he'd have to get inside on him the way he did Allan Green and just wear out Super Joe. Otherwise, Joe wins a wide UD.

BQ2 - I feel Lacy should have stayed retired, Calzaghe took his fighting heart away for good. Bad decision, Jeff Lacy will not accomplish much of anything if he does come back.

I think after his time away from the ring, Calzaghe may be in trouble against Ward (who I think is the division's best now). I would most like to see Calzaghe fight Froch who is also from England. This fight would be huge in Britian. I also know they have true bad blood and history with each other so that would make this more interesting.

As far as Jeff Lacy, he can fight but he will never be elite again. After he was exposed by Calzaghe, and injured his shoulder...he will never be the same. He was promising though.

I would want him fighting Bute first and since I believed he can beat him, he should fight Andre Ward for the real test on where he is now.It seems that Calzaghe lost interest in fighting why he chooses to retire. He could have won a lot more fights if not because of that. I wish him well and I hope he overcome whatever problem he got.

The style of Jeff Lacy doesn't fit the present crop of fighters. He got to change it or stay retired otherwise he will be just schooled after schooled.

I think Froch vs Calzaghe would have been a great fight when both were in their primes, but Calzaghe has been out too long and I think Froch would be too good for him, as would Ward and Bute. In his prime he would have handled all three but he is nearly 40 now and should stay in retirement.

As for Lacey coming back: he hasn't been the same since the Calzaghe loss and should call it a day.

To be honest with you, I cannot see Calzaghe coming out of retirement because he has nothing to prove to anyone. He had quite a few defenses of his title and finished his career undefeated at 46-0. Joe of course is well known for his speed, ability to avoid punches and stamina. He had a very heated rivalry with Froch and it's a shame they never did meet because it would have been a hell of a fight. I'm not sure he really wants to risk his undefeated record, but if he did after a few tuneup bouts to get himself sharp, I could see him winning decisions over all of those fighters you have listed but they would all but close fights in my opinion. To answer your other question, I think Jeff Lacy has had his better days in the ring already and to continue his comeback would be a huge mistake.

He'd have to take some kind of tune up fight first or he'd get crushed by any of the three men you named. If I had to pick one out of the guys listed my choice would be Carl Froch because he and Joe have a heated rivalry and its some kind of storyline between the two.

Joe Clazaghe relinquished the WBC title in order to move up and chase more lucrative fights. The same WBC title Joe vacated Carl Froch captured by beating Jean Pascal. From what I understand Froch called out Joe numerous times but Clazaghe decided to fight Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, which is understandable.

Since you didn't give the option of Joe Clazaghe having a tune up fight I would assume you don't want or think that he needs one, well, I do, and If he fights Carl Froch " Cold Turkey" (No Tune Up) he'd probably get stopped before the Tenth round.

Carl Froch is always in shape, he's tough, durable, and he packs one hell of a punch. I think Carl Would batter Joe Clazaghe from the opening bell only to stop him around the 8th round.

    Carl Froch by Brutal stoppage.

if joe would come out of retirement, its a must that he take a tune up fight. those fighters you mentioned are dangerous fighters capable of pulling up an upset. joe at his best however would simply outsmart and outbox these young guys. i prefer joe goin up against andre ward. ward is an up and coming superstar packed with superior skills. a match against calzaghe would certainly push him to his limit. joe has faced tough opponents in jones and hopkins and he's seen and beat the best in his era. as good as andre ward is, joe at his best would normally beat the young ward. andre is still a work in progress and would surely develop into a superstar. thanks bro and have a good day!

Froch because at one point they genuinely hated each other. At this point I think Froch would walk through him and it wouldn't be pretty.

Who was Lacy losing to last? Dafhir Smith of 23-19-7
