Why do people think OPI nail polish is the best?
Maybe someone can explain this to me. I have been heavily into the nail polish world for years, with a nauseatingly huge collection (with very few never worn). I'm just dumbfounded when I have friends LOVE the color I'm wearing and when they learn what it is, they're turned off because it's not OPI. I just don't get it!
OPI has been bought out by a major brand and will now be seen in more mainstream stores, and I'm sure you're already seeing it in Target, unlike brands such as China Glaze and Orly, which are commonly compared to OPI. I've also had some TERRIBLE quality OPI polishes. Gargantuan Green Grape, anyone? How about Italian Love Affair? Banana Bandana? Awful.
And OPI doesn't always have the best colors or quality. Wet N Wild hands down has THE best black polish ever, and it's less than $2. OPI can't even compare to that. Seriously. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have some OPI colors I like such as... nevermind. The one I was thinking of is "Up All Night", but that's by China Glaze. I'm sure I have a few though...
But seriously, what is this attraction to and snobbishness about OPI? I just don't get it.
All Rose Lead to Rome. That's an OPI polish I like. As for toxic free, it's hard to find polish now that still is! But since the buy-out, they now test on animals.

I guess they have pretty good sales and marketing strategy plus OPI is toxic free which is safe for almost everyone. As for colors are usually personal preference, I like colors of other brands too but I think OPI quality are not bad.

I know exactly what you mean. People always seem to think that the more expensive the better the quality which is like NEVER true. Wet'n'wild is the best nail polish by far. Opi...needs some work.

I tried OPI once and I did not like the texture. Sally Hansen suits me better and also cheaper.. I guess the advertising that makes some people think it's the best.

A great marketing strategy that was obviously successful. I think they really nailed it with the "I'm Not Really a Waitress" red and have been riding that wave ever since.
