is a JBJ Viper K2 HQI ballast electric or magnetic.?

how do I tell the difference?

    It is ballast electric. Plug in power dord into remote ballst and simply turn ON. Your jbj K-2 Viper comes equipped with a remote UL Recognized metal halide ballast with male/female disconnects to safely position it away from moisture and salt build up. All JBJ ballasts are housed in an aluminum bented exterior for heat dissipation and corrosion resistance.
