as for the world seeming more evil now than it was, that's because a. we have better access to deplorable acts because we now have internet, television, guns, and all kinds of things we didn't have before, and b. because after a while, something that was once taboo and edgy becomes dull. in the 60s you wouldn't even see a manichean with nothing but a bra on, now there are runway shows with girls only in lingerie, because little by little exposure became acceptable through thinking "well if we can show this much skin, why not just a little more". however, nothing is black adn white. we are all born with intellect, as are we born with instinctual selfishness, so yes, a lot of people do want fame and popularity because the have everything you need and want life it offers is appealing, but that doesn't mean that nobody cares for anybody. everybody loves at least one other person whether it's their child, mother, husband, whatever, and if you can love, then you really are nice. just others need to level out their selfish with their niceness.
