Why does my dad says we're white when my great grandmother could be black?

My family and I are Latinos, but racially my dad says we're white. My mom told me that apparently, my great grandmother had dark-ish skin, a bit of a wide nose, and big behind. I've never seen her before but does this mean she's black? And if so, then why did my dad says we're white? Are there white people with a big butt, a slight wide nose and dark-ish skin or...?

PS- I have fine textured curly hair (have a lot of it, though), a high-bridge nose, round dark brown eyes, naturally very pale skinned, lips that are between thin and plump, and low cheekbones.
