Would using fabric dye for screen printing be more effective than screen printing ink?

I'm talking about colored dye(in my case black) on a white shirt. Would it last longer than screen printing ink? I know I would probably have to add some sort of thickening agent to the ink.

Thanks :)

You can print with dye, but then you'll have to set it. Screen printing ink generally doesn't require that step.

Also, dyes are much more liquid than screen printing inks and paints (or paints used for the same reason), so dye could easily spread to areas you don't want it (unless you use masking in the fabric to stop the spread, etc).

    Something to think about--

If colored dye were more effective than screen printing ink, don't you think the pro's would use it
