Is my TV repairable, it caught a spark?

My shoes build up static as I walk over the carpet. When I approached the 32" HDTV flat panel TV to push the power button on top of the TV with my finger, a huge spark jumped from my finger to the power button. The spark was so big it actually hurt my finger.

Now when the TV is plugged in it does nothing but turn itself on, get half way through the initialization, then power itself off. Then it starts over. It just continues to do so all the time its plugged in. Is this repairable?

Update:

I usually use the remote.

Update 2:

I was not expecting this to happen.

Update 3:

Scott, Yes I tried unplugging to reset it. I also looked for a reset button, could not find one. Thx

I guess I'm looking for a TV repairperson to tell me if it's repairable.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you use the remote control to switch ON your TV? It would have prevented the electrostatic discharge.

i think the question is, are YOU repairable? it seems as though you've got a short circuit somewhere. just kidding! i would call the company and describe the issue and see what they say. you can just look up the number on the internet. it sounds like it might be shot. is it old? also, are you living on or near an electromagnetic force field?

Did you try unplugging the set to reset the micro?
