cant download java due to internet connection settings?
every time i try it says can not download with the current internet connection settings and cant find what settings r stopping the download i have vista for computer

The problem you are facing is possibly a wrong firewall setting, the use of a proxy server, or a no good cache. I hope you see Java applets working when you installed it as mentioned above. If not, look into those issues, with or without the help of their site.

You would need Java Runtime Environment to make programs based on Java to run, for eg, Limewire which runs on Java. But if you want to write programs, compile and execute(run) them in Java language, you would need a Java Development Kit ( which includes the Java Virtual Machine -JVM). In either case, you'll need an internet connection. You can also follow the book(real one, not an e-book) "Java-The Complete Reference" or "Thinking in Java". These books are really good for a wannabe Java programmer.
