problem with my new hdtv?

I just bought a new hdtv with 1080p resolution. It comes in 1080p when i turn on my blu ray player but when i hooked up the hd receiver (i have comcast) it only comes in 720p resolution.

why does it do this? and is there any way to change this?

Did you check the settings on the HD receiver? You really have to set that too. If you don't know how, call Comcast and ask them how, they will be more than happy to tell you. I used to have Comcast, don't now.

The only true 1080p hd source is bluray... most if not all satellite/cable hd resolution 1s 720p or 1080i at best

Many channels only broadcast in 720p. NBC, CBS, and most PBS run full 1080i.

It is possible that your cable company is lowering the quality to 720p or that the receiver has a setting to limit it but the setting is less common.

Your TV will automatically use the mode that is being broadcast.

you have got the skill to play it. each and each PS3 activity will paintings and not utilising a HDTV, you merely desire a HDTV to play it in severe Definition. you possibly have been given blended up merely now. in case you're interior the US and you acquire a pal version, it won't paintings on a US HDTV yet will paintings on a classic one. in case you purchase a US version, it rather is going to paintings on the two. So, do no longer issue, it rather is going to paintings. i'm presently enjoying it on a popular television.

You don't decide the pictures resolution. The way it was recorded and broadcast does!
