Rental Security Deposit?

Ok, I feel stupid. LMAO. If you have a security deposit on a duplex rental, and renew your lease year to year, you don't do the deposit again every year do you? Don't think so, just looking for confirmation.

Update:

Thanks Maggie! LOL I didn't think so.

Update 2:

I'm in Florida, but I don't think there will be any increases to the rent, if there are, I probably won't renew the lease LOL

Update 3:

Are landlords required to give notice of any rent increases before I am required to make a decision about renewal? Example: Lease is up in September, I am required to give written notice of lease ending 45 days before lease runs out, would the landlord have to tell me before that 45 day period that rent will increase on new lease?

This is not a stupid question and no you don't pay another deposit. Sometimes if there is an increase the landlord will ask for the same amount to be added to the security. If you decide not to renew, be sure you give proper notice according to your lease. You can loose part of your deposit if you don't.

No, the deposit should remain the same. It is held against any damages you may do to the property, and is refunded to you after move-out if all is in order.
