Where does the myth come from that FMJ rounds are more destructive to unprotected flesh than a sp or a hp?

Apparently you just started it. No one else has ever heard it.

    I've never heard that one.

The military and until recently many police departments used FMJ because it was more "humane" to use on people.

In the case of high velocity varmint bullets that fragment upon impact, such as the V-MAX, that myth would be correct.

in my opinion it was started by the use of the M-16 and how the bullet would tumble thus causing more horrific wounds, but thats just my 2 cents

There is no myth. Generally they poke holes. You have been misinformed.

I have never heard anyone say that. I have always heard the opposite.
