I want to add all the negative numbers in a column in Excel - how would I do that? Thanks?

There are about 50 numbers in the column and I would like to add up just the numbers that are negative in a cell at the top of the page.

Assuming the numbers are in column A and your formula will not be in column A:

    =SUMIF(A:A,"<0")

If your formula will be in the first cell in the column to be summed:

    =SUMIF(A2:A100,"<0")

Click the cell where you want the answer, then click on the fx button (up at the top), double-click SUM. Then it'll ask for the cells you want to add. Put the first cell number, then a colon, then the last cell number. It's hard to explain. I hope that's clear enough for you. If not, I tried.
