Cannot save a record in Open Office Table view?
I maintain a database for a local group. I am trying to save details of a new member but when I try to save, I get a message saying "Error in inserting new record Value too long in Statement [insert into (the name of the table)] then the name of some of the columns. I cannot see that there is anything different to the previous data I have entered. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks for that, Blue feat. After I posted the question I decided to work on each field one at a time before trying to save and I discovered that it would not accept more than a certain number of characters in one of them. I thought I had adjusted the width sufficiently and have even set it to automatic but I cannot make all the characters fit. That is not too important now as I have managed finally to save the table. There might be some global setting that needs adjusting but I am content now.

I am not familiar with Open Office but your description of the error message suggests a couple of possibilities:
Either your SQL statement is ill-formed (perhaps a misplaced quote mark) OR a text field is too small for the data you are trying to insert. In the latter case, all you need to do is change the field size.
