My husbands boss just told me I have to tell him he's fired?

My husband's employer just notified me via facebook that I have to tell my husband he's fired. I'm just wondering if he violated some sort of law/work ethics here. It should also be said that my brother in law is also my husband employer.

Update:

okay, I was more or less wondering if we can sue him? Surely you're not allowed to discuss personal information with someone else?

Whether your husband is employed is not 'personal information' There is nothing preventing his boss from firing him online. It's shitty management, but it is no way illegal.

Well, it's definately inappropriate to fire someone through Facebook and seems unprofessional.

So your brother-in-law is youhusband's employer (his brother?) and he is firing him through you on Facebook? Great family ties. Talk to your husband. Call a lawyer if you like. I'm not sure it'll do much for you other than cause more stress.

Remember ethics does not equal law. Ethics= values. Something can be unethical but still legal.

    Good luck.

in the starting up have you ever even reported for your husband you had a issue on Friday? if so, how did he react? If no longer, perchance you ought to guage it. i'd also enable him recognize you're worried that they might terminate you (rightfully or wrongfully). He would certainly be supportive and performance some recommendations for you on how clinical care the topic if given the threat... given he's so artwork orientated.

That does not sound appropriate. I would think that the boss would have to give him something in writing. I would keep the Facebook message, and go to the labour board.

Tell your brother to nut up and do it himself. He is just being a coward, unless you are part owner of the company.

His brother should have told him in the office, not told you, and over the phone.

Tell him to stop being a wuss and do it himself.

I would tell the employer to shove it and do his own dirty work.
