    This will factor into two binomial (x + ?) (x - ?)

    the two mysteries are the two numbers that will multiply out to a neg five and the same two numbers will sum up to a pos four

    so I can only use 5 and 1 as those are the only factors of neg five...since these numbers have to add up to a pos four...the five has to be a pos and the one a negative.

    (x + 5) (x - 1) after you set each factor to zero...your solutions are x = -5 and x = 1

    if you examine your graph you will find that these are the x-intercepts (or where the graph hits the x-axis)

    good luck

    x^2+4x-5 = 0

    x^2+5x-x-5 = 0

    x(x+5)-1(x+5) = 0

    (x+5)(x-1) = 0

    When x+5 = 0, the value of x = - 5

    When x-1 = 0, the value of x = 1

    x² + 4x - 5 = 0

    (x+5)(x-1) = 0

    x = -5, 1
