When you offer a lady your dress shirt as a night gown for the evening at your place, that's very chivalrous. When you offer your lady to your roommate, that Is good sportsmanship.

The Code of Chivalry was written ONLY for ladies and gentlemen, while good sportsmanship principles are supposed to be understood by all.

Chivalry is gender-based and promotes female privilege. Good sportsmanship is unrelated to gender and is not about treating one group better than another.

Source(s): I'm referring to the modern notion of "chivalry," btw.

Good sportsmanship generally implies that both teams are good sports.

Chivalry implies that men have to go way out of their way for women, regardless of whether the woman deserves it or not.

Both work best when both parties follow the same codes of conduct.

    Hahaha, that's awesome Roger!

chivalry is complementing a player on a win /good sportmanship is shaking your competitor's hand whether you win loose or tie .lastyear peyton manning displayed bad sportmanship by not shaking drew brees hand after getting that butt whipping by the saints.
