I don't know any particulars, such as your age or grade in school, but one thing is universal. You should always pick a subject that you either already know inside and out or something that you will enjoy learning about and thereby becoming a subject matter expert.
Don't panic when someone says subject matter expert. It just means you know enough about the subject to feel comfortable talking about it. Science is a broad topic but if it were me, I would be talking about something in earth science because I love rocks and all things geology. Narrow down your topic and then your specific point of that. Then organize your supporting points. If your subject is something you can feel comfortable with, the words will just flow!
Practice first on your teddy bears, then your parent(s), then you will be ready for the big stage. Good luck to you - I know you'll do great!!
