I have never been to the UK but my boss is British and he says the same thing... Fish n Chips in the UK is so superior to that of anything you get here in the US... but there is a pretty good place here in Southern California that I like.

Who knows, maybe some day I will get a chance to try it first hand overseas...

Speaking as a mother, and a British fish fancier, I can honestly say that the UK is so widely renowned for this dish as a result of us being utterly inept at every other food known to mankind. It is a continuation of the Victorian industrialists theory that specialisation in one field, to the detriment of all other accomplishments, will lead to the economic empowerment of the Empire.

Its a traditional street snack, and Cod fish has a strong flavor that goes well when fried. In most places, cod is expensive, so cheaper varieties of fish are used as substitute, which makes the flavor different.

the place of origin for one ,the way that it's cooked and served, if you are a Briton you miss home and miss the traditional way ,
