average price of spark plug replacement for a 97 Caddi with North Star V-8 engine and do wires need to be repl?

that only has 59K miles on it and do wires need to be replaced as well? I've been quoted close 2 $400.00 most of the cost in labor. Is that a tad too much?

Yes, $400 is very steep. It should cost around $140 parts and labor. As far as the wires, if they are original, I would replace them too.

Get you some Bosch platinum plus sparkplugs from autozone around 2.99 each pretty basic, which is good for a CADI, you don't need no top of the line ones that cost around 5 to 7 bucks a piece. Unless your gonna be racing your Lac. Then get you some duralast wires cost 49.99 or some Bosch that cost 69.99 its up to you.its the same thing just different brands. Now the front ones are pretty easy to change, would probably take you fifteen minutes.the back ones are alot more difficult. But with some patience and the right sockets and tools you'll be done in no time.don't let the engine intimidate you when you open that hood its really easy.I know what I'm telling you.save yourself some money and you'll feel better. Hope this helps.

400 bucks to change the plugs? That's "a tad" too much. Try: 20 bucks in parts, an hour labor maximum (if you're drinking a beer). Please tell me that wasn't a dealer quote. You don't need to replace the wires this soon.

You can do just the plugs. However, I would advise that you change the ignition wires as well. they are 13 years old, resistance is likely high. Any greater than 1000 ohms per foot and they are junk.

The total job(plugs 1.1, wires 1.7) pays 2.8 units as per mitchell time manual, so if the door rate is $85.00 then it is 2.8 times the door rate. $212.50

Plugs= NGK Gpower 4x 9.99 (two per pack)

Wires= AC/Delco $153.77 <-- could use champions they are likely cheaper by $30.00

The price quoted to you was correct, as you can see by the breakdown i provided. Hope this helps you.

I am unsure who voted this incorrect, but clearly whomever it was, you are an idiot.
