My network consists of a Cable modem, Router and Switch hub with 10 units of computer?
when I turn on those idle computers, the whole network (starting with the Switch hub) will be disrupted abruptly, all the lights on the Switch keeps blinking and the Router can't even connect to them. Computers show different messages :"A network cable is unplugged" or " This computer has limited or no connectivity..." or " This computer has a IP conflict..." or a yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation sign in the center shown on system task bar.
The whole network cannot be connected until some computers were turned off.
I have replaced all the network cables which have been tested no connectivity problem.
Should I change the Switch hub or the router?
Please kindly help, thank you all in advance.
Network card->property->Advance->Speed & setting has been set to 100mb full duplex.
Internet connection speed 'burst" beyond 2 mbps sometime.
Thanks
Thanks for those who answered.
This network worked fine before this happened. Cables have been replaced, All computer have different name and set to automatic obtain IP address, no static IP was assigned to any computer.
@Psi-co: thank you. My router is Linksys BEFSR 41 with 4 ports. The Switch/ Hub is CNet 16 ports (2 rows up & down ).
@psi-co: Operating system-windows XP SP2. Thanks
@Psi-Co, Thank You very much. I have the same thought. By the way, the #2&3 Ports Indicator light on the router seem turned on together when used,(if viewed from different angle) I assumed this is not the problem.
Hope to contact you, may be I have a chance to give you a treat? ha ha THANKS

Firstly check all your computers are set to DHCP, that will stop IP conflicts. Also check that the DHCP range has enough address to cover all the devices that are going to connect.
The lights on the switch should blink, this shows that they are sending/receiving data.
Check you only have a single connection between you router and switch.
Check the physical cables on the devices reporting network cable unplugged.
Check that none of the PC have a virus on it (could be spamming network connections)
It could be that switch can't handle that level of load, you may need a better switch, with load balancing.
Can you post make & models for the switch / router and operating system for computers.
Additional:-
Replace the HUB. Sounds like its faulty.

Start them up in random order (several times), see if it's one particular PC that's making the network flip out. Then swap the network cable for that pc to another port on the router.
That should tell you if the problem is one pc or a bad port on your router.

First, you make sure all the computers have different names.
No other reason why you should get IP conflicts.
Lights on switch will blink - that is normal - shows activity on network.
Is it really a switch or is it a hub???
With 10 computers, it should be a switch. there is a difference.

there r different type of router and switch with different port like 8 port ,4 port just check your port n change your switch.
