Should fans get to vote for Pro Bowl Players?
I do vote for Drew Brees because he is the best QB in the NFC. I also vote for Colston & know he's been shafted before by the current system.
Having written that: I think fans should have 0% say in the Pro Bowl picks. For example: Jerry Jones spends a lot of money advertising in Arlington, Dallas & all over Texas for fans to vote for their players. More times than not more Dallas players get to go over players on other teams, even ones with far better #'s. I believe it It should be left up to the players alone. I believe it's a dishonest system when fans have 33.% of the say. It's simple math, more fans = more votes. What are your thoughts?
You're right Eric. People don't take it seriously, until it comes to legacy & HOF votes, which is a huge deal.
MBL:
If Brees wasn't the best NFC QB this year (& the one before & the one before & the one before) then please tell me what you're smoking so I'll know not to ever go around it.
Who was better? Brees 4,620 yards (1st in the NFC, 2nd in the League) 33 TD's (1st in the NFC, 3rd in the league)
Both behind Eli... Bree's last game 402, 2 td's, 0 ints & they lost!
It's not his fault 8 guy's on D couldn't tackle Lynch.
Eli 4,002 21 td
Rogers 3,922 28td
Ryan 3705, 28td
Freeman 3451, 25td
I mean "Come On Man", he has 1,000 more yards than the #4 guy in the NFC.....& 600 more than the 2nd! With a terrible Defense that kept him on the sideline longer!! You should stop writing, forever.

No, fans should have NO say in it.
Remember when the Redskins had about 12 Bowlers despite being just an average team? Their kicker had made about 60% of his kicks and became a Pro Bowler.
Look at the Yao Ming situation in the NBA. He has hardly played a game the last couple of years but keeps getting voted in. It's become a running joke.

I agree to a point. The fans shouldn't be allowed to vote because the voting will ALWAYS be slanted in some way. There have been more snubs each year and a lot of it is because fans vote for players based on their looks (this is for female fans), players being overrated, and just because that player is on their favorite team. In my mind, the voting should be based on performance alone. If a player plays well and has the statistics to be in the top 10 in a given category, then there is no doubting that they should receive a spot. Of course there will always be great players left out since there is a limited amount of space on the pro bowl roster. But that being said, if the fans don't get a vote then it takes away the element of favoritism, and it is no longer a popularity contest. The only thing I disagree with is that players should get the vote. I am not sure that would work, because some players might not be honest with how they see other players playing. But then again, it might work I just don't know. I am a bit skepitcal about that part of it. But I do agree, taking away the fan vote keeps things honest, and it eliminates popularity voting. It should be all about stats.

I agree with you, not many people take the Pro Bowl seriously anyway, but when you have two or three big snubs that leave out a player who's more talented, then it almost becomes unwatchable. I never vote for all the players on my team because what does that accomplish? Dallas had 11 or 13 guys make it in 2007, did they even make the Conference Championship game? I want to see the best game possible, and I want to see guys go who deserve it.

No... fans won't vote for who has played like Pro-Bowler most of the season...but instead vote the most popular player based on them being a favorite not because he's actually deserving of the Honor to Represent either the AFC or NFC in the pro-bowl.

it is sometimes a popularity contest and well known players sometimes get in on merritt alone, because they have done it many times in the past, people therefore vote for that player. ji have seen players that have not really played special get into the pro bowl because of who they are.of course people want to vote for players on there team, because they see them play a lot and see how good they are. but the fans cannot see how players are on the west coast if they live on the east coast. maybe the best way is to go by there stats , at least on offense.if players were to vote , then you would have a problem with players voting for players on there own team.face it if a team is not winning then good players on those teams get overlooked. i think it should be done where fans, and players, and the media contribute equal amount of votes.

Quite Frankly the Pro bowl game just isn't the way it used to be. Why would they have it before the Super Bowl, its nonsense. No body really cares any more since this game don't go by the NFL rules. Boring if you ask me. Whats the seance to even vote your favorite players in when they don't even care if they go.

The Pro-bowl should go the way of the College All-Star game....forget it. No one cares. Just vote for the players and forget actually playing the game

Sherman and Peanut Jennings have been arms down the excellent 2 Corners interior the league this 365 days, perhaps Sherman became snubbed as a results of PED component. GRONK, you're a ******* fool in case you think of Peterson and Asomugha deserved the nod over him. Peterson at superb became inconsistent on a poor team and Asomugha had his worst 365 days as a professional.

They should just eliminate or get rid of the Pro Bowl.It serves no discernible purpose.
All professional sports should do away with All-Star Games. What is the logic or reasoning
behind them?Yeah,I know some brilliant responder will say it is for the fans enjoyment. How
many have you been to.

Brees certainly was NOT the best QB in the NFC this year. But I agree, fans should not get to vote.
