Do you think Alabama Gov Robert Bentley is really sorry?

Alabama Gov Robert Bentley is apologizing for his remarks that only Christians are his brothers and sisters. However, he said them loudly and forcefully. Do you think an apology means what is in his heart has changed and the position he will govern from has changed too?

Update:

David, this is not a gotcha issue. He said what he said and then tried to retract it. There is where I have a problem with politicians who are always saying that people are out to get them. If you believe that to be true, then you should be more careful with your words. As for him having nothing to apologize for I respect your opinion. He should not apologize if he was being honest with how he felt. But that raises the question that if he believes what he said is true, and he tries to back pedal, does that mean that he is not being sincere and being unfaithful to his core beliefs by covering them in this manner?

    No, he's not sorry.

Out of the heart the mouth speaks. (Biblical)

So he spoke from the heart.

He only "apologized" because of the outrage of the people.

And if he were as Christian as he claims to be, he'd know that Jesus embraced everyone. And many of his chosen disciples were non-Christians - at first.

No, not at all. And the religious right in Alabama doubt the sincerity of the apology.

After all, it is Alabama and we should not be surprised at just how backward this state has become.

He was elected for a reason which has become all too apparent.

No he said it because he thought people would cheer for him. what he didn't realise is that a lot of people see it as stupid ignorance and now he's trying to apologize to save face. Everything politicians say in speeches is carefully calculated, its just a shame some politicians try to invoke hatred and fear.

Sorry about his statement? No, I am sure he believes very firmly that his religion makes him superior. A sorry excuse for a human being, yes, I would say that he is sorry in that respect.

Sacramental wine should be drunken in a small amount.

This guy sounds like he chugged a bottle of moonshine.

Bentley didn't do anything wrong in the first place, so he didn't need to apologize. I think he apologized only to reassure Alabamians that he isn't just the governor for the Christians, but the governor for all citizens. This is a "gotcha" issue for his opponents, not a real issue.
