Girl Scouts Unlimited?
My daughter is a Girl Scout and she is the top seller in her troop in everything. She makes 10 times more than the rest of the group combined. She received incentives in the past but now the other girls decided to vote against incentives. Since she is the only one who earns them my daughter refuses to sell cookies. She wants to be a girl scout but she understands that in order to go on she cannot sell the amount of products she did in the past and receive nothing for it. She thinks of herself as loser. My wife contacted her leader and other leaders but they support the girls' decission. We are behind our daughter. Should we allow her to stay and sell next to nothing, ultimately not going on trips for the luck of money, or quit?
When my daughter joined the troop they didn't go anywhere because they never had enough money to do fun stuff. Now, however the girls think they are doing fantastic job selling cookies. They don't know that it is one person's fund raising that pays for most of what they do. The scouts are not involved in budgeting so they really don't know all the details. My daughter thinks that somebody out there has to open their eyes as to where the money come from. Girl Scouts are supposed to teach girls how to become independent and successful, how far the girls are gonna go if they think that their 10 boxes of cookies pay for a trip to Disney Word. My daughter always reached high, the incentives were just to help her get even higher.

This is outrageous! The vote must be UNANIMOUS or they cannot vote against the incentives. We just went through this in our troop, too.
You have several different options. One, contact your local Council personally, ask to transfer to another troop. Two, report the rule breaking, insist on unanimous vote. Three, take to Council about having your daughter put her cookie selling earnings toward the Destinations program, so it would allow her to travel; or toward our inidividual program, so she can earn free weeks at camp.
But please, don't let this go, and carry on. Some troops end up being run by catty women, and the girls suffer, whether they know it or not.
If you need help finding the appropriate contact for your local Council, tell me exactly where the troop meets, I will get you the information

If she was the one going out and getting the orders, it's her choice. If adults are getting orders for her, they can stop. Usually cookie sale money goes back to the troop in a small amount. Maybe she could get a badge by doing some fund raiser on her own and donating money to the troop in memorial to someone special in her life. I'd help her think of ways to continue her involvement in scouting. It is a good activity.

Do you want your daughter to learn about life, or money? First, you have to answer that. I would teach her to stay in the girl scouts. That will pay off in the long run, she has plenty of time to make money and dominate when she gets in the workforce.

So you want her to quit doing good deeds? Maybe they are going to emphasize the value of team work. There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, but maybe your daughter is taking it too far and doesn't want to lose her bragging rights. Don't get me wrong; I am a very good fund-raiser in my own rights, but sometimes the ones who don't always win need a little incentive, too.

Think she should stick with the Scouting - let the pettiness fall by the way side.

It sounds like you are losing perspective on the whole purpose of having her in scouts. To me your argument sounds a little self serving

do you wish to teach your daughter to be a non profit sales person? if so stick with the scouts.

Sounds like your daughter's "competitiveness" is overwhelming her "desire to do good."
I'd ask myself where she learned that....
