2000 Honda civic wheel bearing question?
I just took my 2000 Honda Civic DX to wheel works, my car which has 83,000 miles on it shakes pretty bad when I apply my brake and come to a stop. For about 30 seconds after I stop it shudders then it subsides. They told me I need to replace the wheel bearings for the lower rear... I asked them if that's the reason my car shakes, and they said "fix it and we'll see". I just don't like answers like that. I was just wondering if anyone else had this kind of problem. And how much would a reasonable price to get that done be? I'm a 26 year old chick and don't want to get ripped... I'd kinda like to know what I'm talking about too lol. Anyway any input would be greatly appreciated!
When I took it to wheel works they inspected my brakes and said they were fine so i assume that means they checked my rotors as well, oh crap I also forgot they mentioned that something was cracked... maybe some kind of arm? Ugh I forgot, I was just caught off guard when they said "yeah it's only about 900 to fix" yeah... only 900...

i just did my wheel bearings on my integra but I did 80% of the work myself. You can pick up bearing for roughly $50 each. If you want to check if its your wheel bearing jack the car up and place your hands on the top and bottom of the wheel and shake, if its loose then its your wheel hub bearing, also if while you drive you hear a "tick tick tick" sound that gradually gets faster as you accelerate thats another sign that its your wheel bearing. When you say it shudders after you come to a full stop leads me to believe something is wrong with your motor mounts perhaps. Also since you seem to have a problem while applying the brake you might want to check and see if your rotors are warped. As for that shop I wouldn't recommend going back there, I don't know where you live but if you have a "ghetto-ish" area nearby take your car to one of those shops because a lot of them will give you a lower price and they most likely have experience with hondas. Have them check your tie rods too, that could cause violent wheel shakes aswell

If it's a bearing, it goes RRRRRR anytime you are moving. If it shakes when you put the brakes on, the first thing to look for is a worn or warped brake rotor. A rotor isn't very expensive, but you might need brakes also.

not very annoying in any respect. This video shows it with the trailing arm bumped off, yet you do not actual even could do this. it is completed in the vehicle. and you do not want an alignment as long as you do not loosen the alignment bolts. section could be approximately $50, and take quarter-hour. in simple terms purchase a brass hammer. I doubt the trailing arm is actual cracked, by way of fact it in simple terms approximately won't be able to happen from using. If there became a production facility illness the place it became cracked, i might propose a junk backyard alternative for extra or less $20. it is not a extreme fee section in a junk backyard. in simple terms make valuable the alternative arm alignment adjustment is desperate to on the subject of the comparable as your arm adjustment. in case you won't be able to detect one, your arm might desire to be welded for extra or less $50. in case you do it your self, in easy terms do one facet at a time, so as which you have the different to apply as a instruction manual for reassembly. yet i might decide for it. it is not that annoying to do.
