Doing push ups becomes ineffective when trying to gain muscle?
I'm fairly new to working out, and I was trying to find how effective doing push ups are. From what I found, push ups can constantly help you gain stamina, so you will eventually be able to do more because your body is getting used to it. However, do you continue to gain muscle? Let's say I do 5 sets of 20 push ups, if I eventually get to a point where I do 5 sets of 30 push ups, am I just doing more, or am I gaining muscle?

To gain muscle you need to use resistance training... just doing push up will only tone your chest and give your more muscular endurance. You will not gain anymore muscle by just doing pushups

You will gain muscle memory which allows you to do the pushups easier, but you need to add more weight so you tear your muscle so you can gain muscle. Start doing Bench Press with a barbells and also dumbbells go up in weight every set and after your 4th set you should be hitting failure, which is a good thing. and the next time you work out add more weight to each set.

Well, when something gets easier for you, you are gaining more muscle. When you do many push ups, the muscles start to build, and you can usually feel them when you are sore. The muscles get bigger(maybe not noticeably), which is why it is easier to do more. If you do more and more every day, you'll get really strong! Just remember to eat protein to work with it.

I have been body building for years now and let me tell you I have done it all and spent it all on supplements and equipment. I definitely saw results but they were slow and steady…. Until I discovered the secret the supplement industry didn’t want me to know about. After that, I gained 17 pounds of muscle fast and have been putting in on ever since.
Now get out there and do it!
