As a manager, what is required of me when an employee advises me of a family members medical condition?
An employee that reports directly to me is unexpectedly out due to a family members medical condition. There is another supervisor who is a rank below me, but still in a leadership position, and is expected to train the employee that is out. I want to advise this member of leadership what is going on with my direct reports family member, to ensure the member of leadership is sensitive to the situation when the employee is back. I was never specifically asked to keep the information quiet. Am I "allowed" to tell this member of leadership that her family member has a medical condition? Or do I just leave it as "personal reasons?"
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoHome proposal ideas?
I ve been trying to come up with a good home proposal idea. We have been together for a few years, and have a 15 month old daughter. I m committed to proposing on a particular date, as that date would be the anniversary of the date we found out she was pregnant. I ve purchased the ring, and bought a onesie that states "mommy will you marry my daddy?." I ve heard from her sister that my girlfriend believes I purchased a ring because we received recent mail from the jewelry store. Given the circumstances, what s more important, something romantic or completely surprising? How important is it for a woman to "look good" when being proposed to? What are some general ideas I could consider?
1 AnswerSingles & Dating6 years agoEffective alternative to barbell military press?
I go to a small gym in town. They only have one area which is used for bench pressing, squats, etc. Often times, this area is being used by someone. When I get a chance to use the machine, I don't want to spend a lot of time there due to it's high demand.
Which leads me to the question- If I can't use the barbell for military press, should I be using the smith machine, dumbbells, or an EZ bar?
My only concern with dumbbells is that they "only" go to 100 lbs at my gym. I'm not at that point yet, but I'm thinking long-term.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoWhat are her rights after being called back to the local car dealership?
My girlfriend recently purchased a newer vehicle. She's on a strict budget, so she negotiated a monthly rate of $280 per month (total cost of the vehicle is not important). This deal occurred on Saturday, 08/02. The paperwork was signed, and my girlfriend came home with the newer vehicle. The dealership called her today and asked her to come back down. They told her that due to her credit, the best that they should do is $291 per month. This, among the way they were speaking to her today, upset my girlfriend. She refused to sign any paperwork presented to her today. My girlfriend told them to forget everything and she will take back her last vehicle if it's an issue. They told her to come back down tomorrow, and they will discuss, "but she signed for the vehicle."
She certainly DID sign for the car, at a predetermined rate. Does the car dealership have any legs to stand on? Or am I missing something? I think adding the whole "you signed for the vehicle" is just the dealerships way of trying to force her hand.
5 AnswersBuying & Selling7 years agoCost of installing a toilet where there wasnt one before?
I moved into a new house which only has one bathroom. In the basement we have a laundry room, but no toilet or sink. There was not one there before. The toilet I want to install is near the water heater (if that matters) and water pipes. I'm simply curious if anyone else has had a toilet installed where there wasnt one before and what the cost was. I don't know the first thing about it.
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling7 years agoDepositing a large check from my girlfriend?
I'm just wondering if I'll be going through any legal hurdles with this. I'm in the process of purchasing a house, and I intend to put the house in my name only. My girlfriend is going to be living with me, and offered to give me $2,000 to put towards the down payment. Obviously, this would be a major help. We bank at two different banks, so she'll need to write me out a check. Is there any red flags that will be raised with her giving me that much?
5 AnswersCredit7 years agoMarshawn Lynch for Victor Cruz?
Need some opinions, people. In my league, I was offered Victor Cruz for Marshawn Lynch. My RB's are Lynch, Richardson, Sproles, and Le'Veon Bell. My WR's are Amendola, Edelman, Garcon, and then I have a steep fall off to Michael Floyd (or I can pick up Alshon Jeffrey instead of trading all together). What do you think?
3 AnswersFantasy Sports8 years agoDo you ever see white people were Jordan's?
I want to get a new pair of shoes, and as a Bull's fan, I was considering buying the D-Rose 3's or the Jordan's. I like to stay in style, and I'd rather not get a bunch of crap from people about wearing these shoes. It might sound like a ridiculous question but I'd rather ask before I buy them. I'm white, do you ever see white people wear these kind of shoes? What do you think?
3 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoProviding alcohol to someone over 18, but younger than 21?
I turn 21 in a month, I'm prepared to receive answers telling me to "not do it," but a couple of my closest friends will not be 21 until the end of Summer. I generally don't go to big parties or anything like that, however in the event me and my friends are caught, would that still be considered "providing to a minor?" I assume so, but I would just like confirmation. I live in Iowa, if that makes a difference.
I had a friend who was busted, and the dad received a $300 ticket and it wasn't a misdemeanor because he provided alcohol to the underage kids at the party. I'm not sure if the cop was just being generous, or if their is some leniency if they're over 18, but younger than 21.
4 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits9 years agoHow often to ask a girl to hangout?
I've been seeing this girl who is obviously interested in me. She's recently introduced me to her family, and tells me that I need to message her more often. Problem is that she is to nervous to ever ask me to hangout. Under these circumstances, how much is to much? I don't want to come on to strong, and I certainly don't want her to think that I don't have a life outside of her. Some insight would be helpful, please.
3 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoWhat is the advantage of locally owned businesses?
Long story short, I'm doing a marketing project for school. They're asking what the advantages of the locally owned business I chose, is. I chose a local ice cream shop, which only has one location, has minimal advertising, and it competes with ice cream shops that are well-known such as Dairy Queen and Coldstone.
2 AnswersCorporations10 years agoSam Bradford, Kyle Orton, or Jason Campbell for Fantasy Football?
So, I'm in a Fantasy Football league and I picked Peyton Manning as my QB. Peyton Manning looks like he'll be out week one, so it leaves me in a bit of a bind. I'm just looking for some opinions on who I should start for week one.
Sam Bradford is currently on my bench as a back up, and the only reason I don't immediately choose him is because he's going to be up against the Eagles Defense.
Kyle Orton is a Free Agent and will be up against the Raiders Defense.
Jason Campbell is a Free Agent and will be up against the Denver Broncos Defense.
I think out of the three, the Raiders have the most offensive weapons. I know that none of the teams are to "hot" but this is what I have to choose from. I'm just looking for some opinions.
2 AnswersFantasy Sports10 years agoHow do you "undo" an exponent?
I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question, but because of a Summer without school and Statistics a couple of years behind me, I forget how to "undo" an exponent. For example, the problem I have is:
P^3 = 64.
I know the answer is 4, but how do you get to that answer without "guess and check"?
Thank you for the help in advance.
5 AnswersMathematics10 years agoWhat are some good party songs?
Hey guys, I'm looking for some "party" music. I'm looking for mostly Rock or Rap, however I'm open to all kinds of music. The ages that you're looking are from 21-24, so something that would appeal. Thanks in advance!
4 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoIf a person fights a drinking ticket, does the "anonymous" tip have to be revealed?
The background is that the cops came to a friend's house based off of a "complaint." The friends dad complied and let the cops come into the house. In the house were three twenty year-olds (that were not his kids) who were drinking. All of the underagers got a drinking ticket, then the cops charged the friends dad for distributing to minors.
My friend seems to be under the impression that if the case is fought in court, the cops have to reveal who it was that complained about the underage drinking, or else they don't have a case. I'm under the impression that they won't, as the offense has nothing to do with the person who tipped the cops off.
The reason why I'm curious, is because I'm worried that my friends dad is going to fight this under a false pretense (they want to find out who it was that complained more than they care about actually winning the case). Furthermore, if their is admission to guilt to the cops, is there any case regardless of who turned them in?
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAre there more alcoholics today than in the past?
I'm working on a school paper, and I need to write about the sociological aspect of alcoholism, and I need a little help. Do you think that there are more alcoholics now than in the past? And if so, why do you think that? A couple of the things that I thought of:
The decline in economy (leads to psychological problems which leads to alcoholism), more advertising (no solid proof of this, just a thought), general growing of acceptance (when people accept alcohol they generally have kids that will accept alcohol, so on and so forth), and more parents willing to buy their child alcohol due to a change in cultural values.
If you think their are more alcoholics in the past than now, why do you think that?
Thanks for the help in advance!
4 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoHow bad is having a really bad meal one time per week?
I'm on a diet, and since I've been on it I dropped from 245 lbs to 215. I eat three times a day, and I do a pretty good job not starving myself by having small healthy snacks and working out very regularly. Will I gain weight back if I just go crazy on one meal per week? I'm thinking something in the ballpark of 18 boneless wings from Buffalo Wild Wings
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoDoing push ups becomes ineffective when trying to gain muscle?
I'm fairly new to working out, and I was trying to find how effective doing push ups are. From what I found, push ups can constantly help you gain stamina, so you will eventually be able to do more because your body is getting used to it. However, do you continue to gain muscle? Let's say I do 5 sets of 20 push ups, if I eventually get to a point where I do 5 sets of 30 push ups, am I just doing more, or am I gaining muscle?
6 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWorking out the same muscles everyday?
I've recently started working out in an effort to lose fat. I've read that it's okay to do cardio everyday, but most websites say that you should not workout the same group of muscles everyday.
I'm not looking to get extremely ripped, but I want to get toned. Meaning I don't go crazy when I'm doing my arm workouts. If I do an arm workout, and my arms aren't sore the next day, is it okay to workout those same muscles again? Or is the fastest result waiting a day? I've also been doing my abs and legs everyday. Are there any problems here? Does it make a difference that I drink protein shakes after a workout to speed up recovery?
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat is the importance of the mileage in a car?
So, it's time for me to be looking for a new car. My boss, who I have also been friends with for the last three years, in selling her car and I'm interested in buying it. It's a 2003 Ford Escape XLT, and it's a really nice looking car. She doesn't have any problems with it for the moment, but she does have 116,000 miles on it. Most of these miles are highway miles, since she drives quite a bit of ways to work.
She's selling the car for $8,000 and after doing some research, a lot of the vehicles I've been finding online are comparable prices and comparable miles.
As you can probably tell, I'm trying to be optamistic. She gets her oil changed regularly, and kept it in good condition for sure. However, is $8,000 to much to pay for all the miles that are on it? Just how important is the amount of miles to a car, even if you had it checked regularly?
Let me have it.
